| A wooden board hinged to fold with a diagrammatic map of Wellingtons campaign in the Iberian peninsula, The game is listed at the end of the rules of Buckland’s examples of Schimmell or Bell and Hammer in Ballam collection, and a board was briefly in the collection on loan.
Chris Lewin in War Games and their History, Fonthill, 2012, illustrates the board and says “The French army started in the top right-hand corner of the board, near the border with France, and the Allies started across a broad front on the left-hand side of the board, representing the stage the campaign had actually reached”.
He gives the date of publication as 25 May 1813. |
