According to data on the American Antiquarian Society website Richard H Pease was at one time an engraver on wood based in Albany from 1834. Later he is described as lithographer and engraver on wood and steel. He probably related to the family running EH Pease and Co. booksellers and stationers at 82 State St. Albany 1841-1853. That business included republishing American editions of earlier British Toy Books.
Richard had a business Pease’s Great Variety Store at 50 Broadway. Later the business was at 510 Broadway. Then 1847-1853 at 516 Broadway as Temple of Fancy. The trading name of the retail business was Pease and Warren in 1853 and 1854. The printing carried Richard’s name. Publication was sometimes by Pease and Warren, sometimes by Richard.

The American Antiquarian Society have at least four games by this maker which are American publications of Ogilvy games and a further six or so are known from Examples elsewhere or from advertisements.
It seems Richard used Ogilvy’s lithographs and repackaged some card games with his own copy of the label. In some cases these American editions supply information which is missing from known copies of the British editions.

Also an American edition of Carpenter’s Historical Amusement was sold by RH Pease but published by CE Morley of 277/279 Lumber St. Albany.
