| It was located in the former Leopoldsdorf station of the Siebenbrunn–Engelhartstetten local railway, a suburb of Vienna, Austria. Dagmar is rumoured to have played most of the board games in the gargantuan collection and is known as the iron lady of board games.
As of October 1, 2019, the Institute for Ludology in Berlin was given ownership of the Austrian Games Museum and operated it as the "International Games Museum" in the Residenzschloss in Altenburg, Thuringia, Germany. At some point since, the Austrian Games Museum's collection of over 31,000 games was transferred to to Altenburg in Thuringia due to mould being caused due to the state of the old railway building.
It has a website (as at Dec 2024 not working too well but still accessible) at spielen.at. This has various sections including a massive database of their games and another about their archive. |
